The afternoon

Drop in whenever you like. It all runs right through the afternoon.

There is no timetable to keep to. Between 13:00 and 16:00 all of this is going on, so come whenever suits you and stay as long as you like.

13:00–13:10

Welcome by Rich

Head coach Rich King opens the day and tells you where everything is. Be there at 13:00 if you can — it is the easiest way to find your way around.

13:15 · 14:10 · 15:00

Intro to Squash, for adults

A 45-minute session with a pro coach, for beginners up to intermediate. Sessions run at 13:15, 14:10 and 15:00, and the coaches sort out who goes where on the day. Places are limited, so being there at 13:00 gives you the most choice.

All afternoon

Junior fun day, 7 and up

A full programme from the coaching team: team games, skill and coordination drills, challenges and plenty of playing. All levels, split on the day. Treats at the end.

All afternoon

Under 7? Soft play

The little ones get their own area with soft play, so the whole family has something to do.

13:00–16:00

Free play courts

Bring a friend, or meet someone there. There is always a coach on court to play rallies with you, so you are never left standing around.

All afternoon

King of the court

Competitive matches organised by a trainer, for intermediate players and up. Plenty of different styles to play against.

All afternoon

Racket testing

Try the top brands on court, get expert advice on what suits your game, and there are deals on the day.

15:30–16:00

Pro exhibition match

Top pros play on centre court while you sit on the tribune with a drink. This is what the game looks like at the very top.

All afternoon

Food and drinks

The stadium kitchen keeps snacks and drinks going all afternoon. Stay after and meet the people you have been playing with.

Who it is for

Honestly, everyone.

Never played

The whole point of the day. Nobody expects you to know the rules, and you will not be the only one holding a racket for the first time.

Parents and kids

A junior clinic to start the afternoon, and enough going on afterwards that the rest of the family is not just standing about watching.

Padel players

Same instinct, different sport. Most padel players pick squash up quickly and find it a noticeably harder workout.

Returning players

Played years ago and fancy starting again? Come and see the courts, meet the coaches and look at the groups before committing to anything.

From people who train here

This is how most of them started.

“I can’t recommend it enough. First, I joined Friday ladies-only night. A perfect way to start playing squash and find a bunch of girls to play with. Now I am having private classes with Rich. He is an amazing coach.”

Sonia Fleury MarinAmsterdam, Netherlands

“Rich has helped immensely with my squash. By focussing on the basics of my movement on the court, we were able to go from a C1 to B2 level in a matter of two months. It was also a great joy to be practicing with Rich.”

Matthijs CarpayAmsterdam, Netherlands

“I have had trainings and clinics with Rich, Omar and Chris over the past three years. Rich is very sharp in pointing out bad habits that might hinder your play and excellent with explaining the technical side of the game. Can’t recommend them enough!”

Raghav MohanAmsterdam, Netherlands

Questions

Anything else.

Do I have to sign up, or can I just turn up?

You can absolutely just turn up. Signing up helps us hold enough courts for everyone and means we can send you the details and a reminder. The only thing you pick in advance is the adult intro session, because that is three sessions of twelve places.

Is it really completely free?

Yes. Entry, courts and racket hire are all free, there is no payment step when you sign up, and there is nothing to pay if you decide squash is not for you.

What age is the junior clinic for?

From seven upwards. It is games-based and we split the group by age and level on the day, so nobody is out of their depth.

Can I bring a child under seven?

Yes. There is a soft play corner for the little ones. That is a space and not a session: no coach is looking after it, so a parent or guardian needs to stay with them. From seven upwards there is a coached junior fun day.

Can I bring a group of friends?

Please do — pick your group size in the form so we hold enough courts. For groups larger than six, WhatsApp us and we will sort it out directly.

Will there be photos or filming?

Yes, we will be filming and photographing parts of the day for Rich King Coaching. Tell any coach on the day if you would rather not appear and we will keep you out of shot.

I cannot make the 13th.

Book a free trial class instead — 45 minutes on court with a coach, on a date that suits you.
